Drill-downs are on the list of enhancements in the works. I wonder what the developers have in mind and what users would like.

I'll go first:
--from shipments screeen of SO-I Customer Service Inquiry, a button to get to SO-H Display Invoice History for a listed invoice. (Don't know if this is possible/realistic, since the shipments screen is a white screen.)

I have already had the developer create "drill-backs" for SO-I for a client of mine. They are available if you would like.

I was going to start a "drill down" thread but someone beat me.

Here's what we really, really, really have wanted since day one with DBA: drill down/up bills of materails within IN-A and maybe other places like BM.

In IN-A, when we look at the "where used" list, or the "BoM" list, we want the ability to click on any item in the list to bring that item up on the IN-A screen. Sounds simple to me...

If you make it, I will buy it. I still get resistance to using DBA because of the difficulty finding parts in a timely and efficient fashion. We want to be able to find any component quickly just by knowing the top level assy number. It's such a basic feature but I've been waiting years for DBA to offer it. Is it so hard to write?

I would like to get the full invoice info (like SO-H, or better yet, print the invoice to screen) from AR-A, "Shipments" button.

My first preference would be in IN-A; SO's, PO's, BOM's ...

My wish list on drilldowns would be in the accounting area. So you could review the g/l account, drill down on an entry and get the offsetting entry (complete with account number) to come up at the same time, and allow saved changes at this level - wow, that would be a dream drilldown!

I am going to go out on a limb here Katie.

That sort of capability has been in higher end systems for a couple of years. The primary way that is accomplished is through the use of a programming language called XML.

That said, the programmer that created TAS 5.0 is working on a version of TAS that will use XML objects.

Now then, Lynn is trying to use a modified version of a newer version of TAS (Tp5wdba.exe so you can understand) for most of the ISTS stuff.

But it is not yet the version that supports XML. It may not be possible or practical to use this version when the programmer comes out with it.

So......it means you may not quite get exactly what you are looking for.

AND, even if it can come close, there MAY be a price tag associated......

The GL drill downs are on the list, but the ability to save will not be, at least not yet. All our drill downs will be read only.

Just being able to drill down on part numbers on the Where Used or BOM screen would be very, very usefull. I frequently find myself dropping down through 2 or 3 levels.
