Title: Tracking SO Changes
Post by kruskay on 03/18/03 at 11:11:53

Is there a way to create a report that might track changes to sales orders - even if it was done in such a way that a "snap shot" of open orders is taken on a certain day and then when the report is run a comparison is made showing line changes and additions other than normal shipments. We have some customers (automotive) who make changes to orders (sometimes on a daily basis) and we are forced to live with this. Right now our sales people make the necessary changes and give paper copies to planning so adjustments to scheduling can be made.

We could do this using MS Access as the "reporting" application.

Essentially the concept would be to have Access "poll" the DBA tables through ODBC, and bring in that information and apply a date/time stamp to each record automatically.  This would enable comparative reports to be run.

We could even take it further should you desire, which would be to have the application generate an email if certain types of changes were to happen, or certain severities of changes.

Obviously, there is a development cost to doing this though.  You would have to decide how valuable this is to your operation.
