When shipping contract orders, we are frequently permitted a variation in quantity (viq) within which we can consider the order complete. However, we currently must change the order quantity to correspond to the quantity shipped in order for DBA to recognize that the order is to be closed. We lose visibility to the actual quantity originally ordered. We would benefit from the ability to see the original quantity ordered along with the quantity actually shipped, and imagine that other companies would derive benefits from this information also. Can we expect anything like this in the near future?

The data is actually there, just need a report to get it out. The Sales Order line item has a field for Original Order Quantity (OOQ). If you change the balance remaining in SO-A, you are asked if you want to change the original quantity - you would say No. If you zero the balance in SO-E, then the program will update the remaining balance and not update the OOQ. For now, however, there are no DBA reports that access that information, you would need to export it or use Crystal Reports or Access.

As an FYI, Aria Consulting wrote a Sales Order Searchability program in MS Access for a client, that gives this information (along with quite a bit more).....
