I would like to see a lookup button on the Ship Via field that would bring up a list of at least 16 different shipping methods. Keep this a free form field with the added ability to select from this list of standard wording.

This would be valuable to me because our shipping software (CPS from Harvey Software www.harveysoft.com) accesses the DBA Sales Order file to retrieve shipping addresses (I customized the Packing list with some code 39 barcode).

A problem that I have is that order entry people sometimes typo the Ship via. If the shipping person does not catch the typo, an item may ship by UPS ground instead of UPS red.

Shipping methods lookups were amongst the many, many, many features in the Shipping/Stock transfer module I have designed and requested interested parties for quite a while back. But no one seemed too interested then....

Lorne,
I remember you soliciting input on the Shipping/Stock transfer module. When I read the info on it, I tried to imagine how we would use it in our business.

For us, it only increased the complexity of what we do. Again, I am speaking of us specifically, this is not to say that you didn't have good ideas with sound reasoning.

Maybe by adding something simple like this to the order entry process, it could benifit many, many, people.
