In the past two months or so, I've had 3 or 4 work orders completely disappear. I looked in the closed and cancelled work order history and there's nothing there. It seems to only be the parent work order. The child work orders all remain. I can't restore from my backups because I will lose all the work I did for the day. I've been adding it as a new work order and it seems to re-attach itself to the child orders. Is this the same glitch that's in DBA 2002.4? I just don't understand where these work orders are going or why they're disappearing.

We had the same issue just last week. First time in five years. (that we know of) We also took the same step of adding the WO back in, and that seems to work ok... but we also don't have a answer as to how the WO got zapped to begin with.

After you put the work order back in, if you go into WO-A and click Material, are the components duplicated? If it was some kind of hiccup and the Work Order Header file lost a record, the WO BOM records would still be there so when the WO was re-entered, you would end up with duplicate BOM entries for all the components. If the WOBOM only has one set of entries, then it looks more like the work order was purged because the purge program also deletes the records from WO BOM and other associated files. However, it is tough to "accidentally" purge a work order, it first needs to be closed or cancelled and then somebody needs to run the Purge WO program.

Ok, I know it's been a while since this topic was last discussed. I haven't had a problem with vanishing work orders in quite some time, but it did happen this past week. I re-entered the work order and clicked on materials, the parts are not duplicated. It's not a huge problem, as it does not happen often, but it's incredibly annoying when it does. I can't imagine the program accidentally purging an open work order. It was never cancelled or closed.
