Title: Report Writing for Dummies
Post by Tod_Sackett on 11/25/03 at 08:40:52

Sorry to ask such a low level question in this forum, but I have Crystal Report Writer and I hate it. I can not get a flippin report out of it to save my life. Please tell me how to start at square one and or where to go to get educated!

Todd,
1. What Version of Crystal Reports Are you using?
2. Is your Server Pervasive Server 2000i, or Pervasive Workstation/Workgroup 2000i?
3. Do you have your ODBC Datasource Setup and is it working Correctly?

Speaking of dummies.  I have a "Crystal Reports 7 for Dummies" book.  If that's the version your using, I'd be happy to lend it to you since its probably hard to find.

I am interested in getting some training also. Does anyone know of a good source.

There is a good (though BLOODY dry...) manual available from Crystal Decisions. I am assuming you are on Crystal 9.

Try dummies.com:

  Advanced Computing:

      Databases:

           View all titles.

All recent versions are available. Good luck  :)

Tod,

Also check Amazon.com. Search "books" for "crystal reports for dummies". This seems to be a more complete selection, and much less expensive than dummies.com

Todd

I searched the internet on crystal reports there were some good sources. I found crystal reports.com that offers training courses in my area. There are also a couple of forums. Check it out.

I found a pretty good (and comprehensive) CD training series from CareerAcademy.com.  It is a 7 CD set that takes you from the basics through the complicated utilizing audio/visual teaching methods.  It is the best $550 I have ever spent.
