Title: Work Order Costing Problem
Post by Mike_Vader on 12/10/03 at 13:04:10

We have recently had an issue where a Make-From Part was assembled into a work order BOM with the wrong cost.  This assembly is used in a final assembly (it's nested) and as a result we found that there was a very large variance on the Job Cost.

In an effort to fix the situation we first revalued the Make from part by ensuring the correct cost was in the standard cost and then using UT-K-F to fix the average and last costs.

This fixed the actual cost per unit on the job costing report but for some reason the extended actual TOTAL cost is still incorrect. ???

Does anyone know what is required in this situation to fix the costing of the work order?

All suggestions appreciated...

Thanks,

Mike

Is the WO open or closed?

I've actually tried it both ways (C,R,F) - it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Check JC-E for the work order.  If there is still a material issue record at the wrong cost, it needs to be backed out, reset the average cose of the Make From again, then issue it at the correct cost to the work order.

And then run BKREBWO at UT-A to do the WO costing rebuild.
