Title: BOM's with same item # on two different lines Post by kevind on 02/02/04 at 16:01:25 I'm having some problems with BOM's that have a given Item # on two different lines. This is necessary because, in some cases, we use an item in sequence 10, and then another one of those same items in sequence 30 of the routing. We kit issue items for WO's when we release them. We un-issue items that are out of stock so that the shortage report for a WO is accurate. It seems that on WO BOMs for these items, sometimes, the first item shows 1 required, and 2 issued. The second identical item # shows 1 required, and 0 issued. I would think that these would net out ok. However, when I try and close these types of work orders, it indicates that not all items have been issued. Is this situation just not handled correctly, or do we need to do something different? |
Title: Re: BOM's with same item # on two different lines Post by Lynn Pantic on 02/02/04 at 16:12:17 When you do a Kit or List issue, the program looks at each line of the BOM and processes accordingly. However, if you issue (or unissue by issuing a negative quantity) a singke item, it always posts against the first instance of that item in the BOM. Use the List Issue feature to avoid this problem. In WO-K, instead of Y or N for a Kit, enter L for a list and you can specify exactly which line of the BOM is affected. |
Title: Re: BOM's with same item # on two different lines Post by Cyndee Pappas on 08/13/04 at 15:29:28 Using List mode in WO-G dated 7/14/04, I was surprised to get the "negative quantities exist. Do you want a shortage report?" message. This happened for several components that were on 2 different lines of the BOM. The total onhand is showing on both instances of the same part #. Examples: Part # qty req onhand issued 2435 400 366 366 2435 400 366 366 2491 400 410 400 2491 200 410 200 2492 400 129 129 2492 300 129 129 Can this be fixed? |
Title: Re: BOM's with same item # on two different lines Post by Lynn Pantic on 08/13/04 at 17:08:29 Ewwww... I see what is happening. The second instance of the item doesn't realize that the prior line is pulling from stock and depleting the on-hand. I will send it to programming - it can be fixed but I know they will tell me it won't be easy :-/ |
