Title: MRP REQUIREMENTS
Post by normsnc on 02/25/04 at 10:11:22

We have a make-from part #1 (type M) using a manufactured part #2(type A) in it's bill.  We have a work order for the #2 part.  The #2 part BOM calls for a #3 (type R) part.
When we print a  report in IN-D it tells us we need 1 of #3 part (correct).  When we go to the Mfg. menu and run MR-F and then print a report in MR-G, it tells us we need 2 of #3 part (wrong-doubled).  ???
For a test, we entered finished production for #2 part, then regenerated the MR-F and then printed MR-G again and it was correct.
We think there is a problem with the MRP requirements system that doesn't take into account type M parts with type A or F parts in it's BOM. :-/  Or can someone tell us if we are doing something wrong. ???

Hi JW,
Thanks for the reply!  Our reorder level is set to 0.  We've been working on this problem again today and have maybe discovered the "glitch".  We originally had made a sales order which we converted to a work order (and chose Y on multi-assembly work orders).  Then we went to MR-F Generate Material Requirements. This is where we got the doubling problem explained above.  We got an idea today  ;D and created a test company to test our theory.  We created a new sales order for this product.  Then instead of converting the sales order into a work order (SO-N) we went right to the MFG menu and generated material requirements (MR-F).  Our result now has the correct quantities.   ;D  But one thing.....we are just now beginning to use this as a mfg. system and our personnel are use to seeing the same number prefix on all work orders related to the same job.  Doing it this way gives us all different work order numbers.  Why shouldn't we get the same required quantites using either procedure? ???  Again, the doubled quantities are for raw material that is being used in the manufactured part which in turn will be used for the make-from part.  Any suggestions............Lynne???  Our toll free number is 800-473-8899  :D

Check the dates

also the Buffer settings

sometimes if the dates are out to long you will get another BUY message.

I find if I get weird stuff in the mrp its usually the dates.
Like if the sales order ship date is today  but it will take 10 weeks just to recieve the material.
