I have an item:

Type "R"
STOCK UM = IN
PRICE UM = IN
PRUCH UM = FT
PO CONV. MULT = 12

I have ordered & received this item numerous times with no problems. But now I show one receipt that puts it into inventory as feet, not inches (I received ordered 24 feet, but I show 24 inches received, not 288")

Why did this happen???

It seems like we have a lot of problems when using conversions, especially with pricing. Does anyone else have problems?

I had a client that did a LOT of purchasing of steel where it was bought in feet and stocked by the inch. And the 2 purchasers had to be VERY careful to make sure that DBA did not spontaneously change the unit of measure in the PO or in the receiving process. But it was very sporadic so it was near impossible to identify the root cause. Sorry for the bad news, just being honest..... :-/

We use UM conversion on a number of items and have never seen a system-related problem.

We occasionally have a problem where the person entering the receipt tries to 'out think' the system and keys in the wrong quantity. This can appear to be an error like the one described above.

I would look carefully at the transaction in question.

At the client site I mentioned, I actually watched with my own eyes as DBA failed to bring in a correct UM in PO receiving all by itself while one of the purchasers typed it in. I thought at 1st it was the receiving people as well, but had to change my tune when I saw it happen.

Personally, I'd love Lynn to take a shot at getting this fixed, but I know from conversations with the programmer that there is probably like a good 2-3 days of solid work in just trying to duplicate and feret out the problem as it is very sporadic. So it will likely never be solved. :-[

I've been spot checking some of our receipts and have found the same problem with different items.

Lynn - Is there any infomation I can provide to help fix this problem?

What I may be able to do is provide a version of PO-C with some debugging messages in it for anybody interested in helping to troubleshoot the problem. It will slow things down a bit clicking through the messages but could pinpoint where the Conversion factor is getting changed. If anyone is interested, let me know.
