Title: travelers with subparts? Parent/component Post by Laura on 04/22/04 at 11:13:52 Hypothetically.....I want to make dumbells. 1. Could I enter parts like this: . DUMBELL type F . SHAFT type A . WEIGHT type A 2. enter routings 3. enter a BOM with DUMBELL as the parent and have SHAFT and WEIGHT as the components 3. add just the part DUMBELL to my Sales Order 4. Convert SO to WO 5. print travlers for both the SHAFT and the WEIGHT 6. job cost just the WEIGHT or just the SHAFT 7. produce Cusomter an invoice that just shows BARBELL I can't get to #5. But then DBA will produce only 1 traveler for DUMBELL and lists SHAFT and WEIGHT at the bottom. I want a traveler for each sub part. What am I doing wrong? Until now (7yrs) everything we have sold has been a part F. Thanks, Laura |
Title: Re: travelers with subparts? Parent/component Post by Lynn Pantic on 04/22/04 at 12:11:26 When you convert SO to WO you need to say Y to create Multi Assy work orders. That will create the -1 work order for the Dumbell and -2 and -3 for the weight and shaft. |
Title: Re: travelers with subparts? Parent/component Post by Laura on 04/22/04 at 12:42:09 cha-ching!!! Where would you post assembly time? My guy thinks you would post it to WO XXXX-1 DUMBELL Is that correct? Thanks Laura |
Title: Re: travelers with subparts? Parent/component Post by aricon on 04/22/04 at 12:47:42 You post labor to each work order individually as required. So if there is work on the shaft you will be able to Job Cost the shaft assembly separate from the weight assembly. If you then want to job cost the whole thing there is a check field in JC-A for "Print Composite report" and you would select all 3 work orders at the from/thru range. For the other JC reports just select all 3 work orders and you can get composite costing. |
Title: Re: travelers with subparts? Parent/component Post by Laura on 04/22/04 at 12:54:43 But if I wanted to weld the WEIGHT to the Shaft ...(and have a completed DUMBELL)...where would I post the wedling time? Remember my BOM looks like this: . . DUMBELL type F . SHAFT type A . WEIGHT type A Under what part# should the sequence for assembly (including welding) be found? |
Title: Re: travelers with subparts? Parent/component Post by Lynn Pantic on 04/22/04 at 13:01:25 Putting it all together would belong to the Dumbbell work order. |
Title: Re: travelers with subparts? Parent/component Post by cathyh on 04/23/04 at 08:01:44 When we make F type parts that have A types in the BOM, we make work orders for both F and A and finish production on the A type when all costs are collected, and then issue them to the F type. Then the A costs are included in the cost for the F type. |
