Title: inv# skipped---ANYBODY else have this happen?
Post by Laura on 05/12/04 at 07:04:20

ok....no one knows why this has happened.... ANYBODY else ever have this happen?

DBA auto assigns the next invoice #....unless it has been used for a voucher #, or overpayment#, etc.
How can there be a skipped # in BKARINVT?

I printed the INV listing by number--no dates--.there was no 119123,
I search all released SO thinking we missed posting one---no 119123.
I looked at unreleased SOs to see if one had 119123 in the top right corner--nope.

I searched MAINTAIN DATABASE and looked especially in BKARINVT-B to see if 119123 had been previously used for a voucher or over payment....nope.

Any idea how I can find 119123?

Thanks in advance.

We try to keep our shipper # and invoice# the same.  Today we lost an invoice # and it is not assigned to a sales order.  We set our numbers when they get off and this happened shortly after we set the numbers.  All sales orders that were created had an invoice number but they we're missing one.  I would love to resolve this problem.  Thank you.  pcrist

Go to MAINTAIN DATABASE and search BKARINVT  for your missing invoice #.   It may not be an assigned number, it  could be an AR Voucher or an over payment that previously "took" that number.

I have searched BKARINVT-B  for my missing invoice #  and it is not there.  So mine was not used by a previous voucher or overpay.    If your missing number is not in BKarinvt either, then you are having  the same problem.
Good Luck.     (maybe some other user has had a number used up but not found in BKARINVT and figured this one out)

Also, PCRIST, IS Tech has a default setting to force the shipper and invoice numbers to be the same so you don't have to worry about it any more.

Lynn,

Dave and I looked at this and we are reviewing this to see if it will work with our internal system.  Our paper flow is a little different from other companies.  I also found out some employees weren't understanding the procedure on how to keep the shipper and invoice # the same.  I did check in maintain data base and could not find a particular invoice #.   So I think we still have an issue with a missing invoice #.

Thank you,
pcrist

Did someone try to reverse an invoice?

Occassionally we lose invoice numbers when we try to reverse a voucher.  They are nowhere to be found in A/R, but they do come back to haunt you in general ledger.  I did not look in maintain database to see if I could locate it.  The problem became so severe, we no longer use the reverse feature, we issue credit memos.

No....I don't think so.  But I would guess that reversing an invoice would create a number in BKARINVT.

Thanks,
Laura
