Title: PRICING EACH KIT COMPONANT
Post by linnent on 05/18/04 at 07:39:38

IS THERE A WAY TO HAVE EACH COMPONENT IN A KIT HAVE A PRICE WITH IT RATHER THAN THE MAIN ITEM?  SUCH AS A     CCE 000   FILE CABINET   IS $50
BUT THAT FILE CABINET HAS 3 COMPONENTS
                   1 - FRAME
                   2 - DRAWERS

CAN THE CCE 000 FILE CABINET NOT HAVE A PRICE
BUT THE FRAME BE $30 AND EACH DRAWER $10?  I STILL
WANT THE CONVENIENCE OF TYPING IN CCE 000 AND GETTING ALL THE COMPONENTS TO PULL IN AUTOMATICALLY - (AND CEASAR WANTED CONTROL OF ALL THE MONEY IN ROME, TOO!!)

THANKX

Not in DBA. There are programs that do this, but not DBA.

This need is very close to mine.  If we can't price the components, can we at least keep track of inventory (and perhaps sales count) of the components?

Thus, typing in the order for a CCE 000
would decrease inventory of 1 frame and 2 drawers?

My previous Admin Asst, has left, and I am training a new person, and trying to get the system to do what I wanted from the beginning.

What I was hoping for in the Forum was a very quick guide on how to get the above feature working.

I presume I create a BOM for the top level. Does it have to be finished goods, and are the lower items COMPONENTS?

I am planning on playing with the test company to get the scheme working.

I would appreciate any quick hints.

The top level item is a type K (Selling Kit).  It has components entered in BM-A that can be type F, A, M, R, N, L.  When a sales order is entered for the type K parent, the components pull into the order proportionally based on the BOM quantities.  In the Manufacturing Answer Test company, there is an example Item Number  KIT which is a build your own red wagon.

The intent of the Kit is to bypass any work order processing and, when the invoice is processed and posted, the components are removed from stock.  The Invoice and Packing Slip can either include the components or not.
