Title: MRP and TYPE B Boms Post by shadowcaster on 05/18/04 at 11:57:25 I re-entered a sales order and added a few items via my F&O setup, these were type B items. The parts on these type B bom's never make it to the MRP. The result was we didn't know we needed them and now things are running late because they were not ordered. Should the items on the type B boms be eliminated from the MRP creation ? JW |
Title: Re: MRP and TYPE B Boms Post by Cyndee Pappas on 05/19/04 at 09:04:52 We use type B all the time and MRP is exploding them all the way to the lowest level. However, we've had some odd results when modifying items with F&O. If it is the last (or only) line item, things are ok. If it is inserted above another line item, sometimes all the lines don't pull in. This applies to kits also. Are the parts on allocation and not on MRP? or missing from both? If on allocation, is the MRP flag set to Y? |
Title: Re: MRP and TYPE B Boms Post by shadowcaster on 05/19/04 at 11:24:14 There were type B items added to a sales order. One bom had 1 type A Item on it the other was a type R item. Both were flaged for mrp as was the top level item. neither showed up on the mrp at all :-( JW |
Title: Re: MRP and TYPE B Boms Post by Cyndee Pappas on 05/19/04 at 13:46:16 Sorry I wasn't more clear before. We've had problems with SO to WO conversion (intermittent and can't find the exact sequence that causes it) and different problems with MRP. So I need to ask very basic questions to pin down what happened. 1. How did you add the B type items? 2. Were the items added before the SO-N to WO conversion? F&O won't hit mrp (or the reorder report) until the SO is converted to a Work Order. 3. Do they show up on the WO bom? |
Title: Re: MRP and TYPE B Boms Post by shadowcaster on 05/20/04 at 09:08:33 1. How did you add the B type items? deleted and re-entered the sales order 2. Were the items added before the SO-N to WO conversion? F&O won't hit mrp (or the reorder report) until the SO is converted to a Work Order. So F&O items are treated diffrently by the MRP when they are on a sales order. I was depending on items on the sales order to show up on the MRP they were purchased items that would have been on the w/o bom but were added after the original w/o was created. However they were only on the sales order. and when you run mrp it lets you include sales order items I guess I assumed that the MRP would drill down into the sales orders and make sure we were covered. At least with a planed order. 3. Do they show up on the WO bom? They did not because this was after the WO creation material issue and labor had started. Im think I should have issued a new sales order for the job changes since it was just additions to the job. We manually added them to the w/o bom and yes now they show on the MRP and all is well. Title: Re: MRP and TYPE B Boms Post by Lynn Pantic on 05/22/04 at 12:54:50 Looks like you had 2 issues involved here. If you add BOM items to a F&O SO after the WO was created, you have to manually add them to the WO, the WO that already exists will never know about them. Also, I believe the MRP ignores type B items on a F&O SO and does not drill down into the BOM to generate requirements for their components because if it did, then once the WO WAS created, it would see them twice and duplicate the requirements since the B parent itself never has a WO to satisfy the SO line, they are rolled into the parent WO. |
