We are taking a physical inventory on 10/01. I will still need to enter some transactions to inventory for 9/30, but it will be after 10/01 before I get all the info.

I need to freeze the inventory, but I also need to get these transactions in. Any way around this?

Also, if I don't freeze inventory until the transactions are made (10/4 or 10/5), can I still enter tags ahead of time?

YOu need to add the quantities that you will be taking out after you freeze inventory to the tag count of each of the items. Then you can just enter the 9/30 transactions and they will relieve inventory after the physical inventory is done, and your ending inventory for 9/30 will be correct.
