Title: XP SP2 and DBA License
Post by NovaZyg on 11/01/04 at 08:23:23

Installed 3 new Dell PC's with XP SP2 and all three are having problems getting into DBA. When logging into DBA the user name and password comes up fine. Then we get an error, Your DBA license has expired. It does not display the license screen. then it renames the company to you are not licensed....  we have 25 other stations NOT XP SP2 that all work fine...  The License Administrator (under - File)  shows the correct serial number but the date is 12/30/1899  should be 12/31/30 as we are a lifetime user. and number of users is 3 instead of 30.  Has anyone else had issues like this or any solutions to this problem..

Thanks
Allen

SP2 was SOOOOO bad on one test machine I put it on, I couldn't even download and install some of Microsoft's OWN updates. And some other programs wouldn't install at all (Acrobat, as an example), and other things didn't work, etc. Even after I rolled it back, some things weren't right. Ended up flattening the machine and re-building.....MINUS SP2 :-[

These Systems were NEW came with SP2 so there is no rollback. Soon enough you won't be able to buy any new computer that is not SP2. So this might become an issue if we can't find some way to make it work.

Allen,

Not sure if this will work, but worth a try.

Use the hidden $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder
1. Click Start, click Run, type c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. When the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Removal Wizard starts, click Next.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove Windows XP SP2.
