Title: Crystal reports 7.0 installation
Post by FRED on 11/10/04 at 16:01:09

Hi,

I would like to install crystal reports 7.0 on my networked pc (Windows xp)  it does already reside on another of the pc's in the office.

can anyone advise me how to do this?  the instructions in the manual appear to be outdated.

thanks,
Terri

Would love to help but that is a seriously OLD version. I assume you are meaning to do a 'client' install. If that is the case, then the primary install should be on the server. If you mean to do a full install, insert the CD and follow along....should be pretty straightforward.

well, I guess we couldn't find the primary install on the server.  do you know the file name?  I am assuming you mean if we could find it, there would be an option for "client install"?

thanks,
Terri

You probably need to do the full install at your station.  Do you have the CD and installation key?  Also, you probably want to do the standard installation.

Once you have the Crystal Reports program on your local PC, you can access the actual reports from your server if that is where they are stored.

OK, well, I cannot remember with v7, but in 8 and up there is a client install option. But with 7 you may have to do as Sharon said, which is to do the full install locally on the client workstation and then source your data from the server install. I think you could do that with 7 as there was no Crystal Enterprise engine.
