I am not able to import forecasts. I have tried the following:
In excel, save as *.prn and import as fixed length
In excel, save as *.csv and import as comma delimited
In excel date field, I tried custom format with YYYMMDD and it displays as an infinite number of ###### signs. If I format the cells as text, they display correctly as 20041122.
The screen that goes unexplained in this process is the bottom half of the MR-A Import Forecast Data Window. This has 2 fields to the left of each label (Item Number, Date, Qty), to which there is no explanation of what info is needed. It will not let you enter 0 for the date, so I tried 8 in the left field for the number of integers, and left the others at 0. Also tried the item number at 15 for the integers in the item number field of the import file, and 3 for the greatest number of integers for Qty.
There are 2 other wild cards that may contribute to the problem. My import file contains repeats of the items with different dates (weekly). And the item numbers have a hyphen in the middle.
Does anybody know what I am missing?

I'll just take you through the steps that work for me:

1. Create forcecast in Excel.
Column A is Part Number in text format.
Column B is Date in Custom Format (YYYYMMDD)
Column C is Qty in Number Format

(You were missing a 'Y' in the date format but I assume that was a typo. The #####'s may mean that your column is not wide enough to display, try widening it.)

2. Save spreadsheet as CSV(Comma Delimited) e.g. F:\DBAMFG\DEFAULT\SLSWEEK.CSV

3. In MR-A enter filename as above. Enter 'C' in 'Comma Delimited or Fixed Length?' field. Below that, in first column, enter 1 for Item Number row, 2 for Date row and 3 for Qty row. (This tells program where data is in your CSV file.) Second column is Zeros in all three rows.

4. Hit enter and your off. The only fluke I've seen is that data will not import if dates are prior to today's.

Thank you very much. It worked like a charm. Where I was lost is not knowing to put in the column numbers.
