Title: Running ODBCDDF and getting FILE.DDF Error Post by roshan on 12/02/04 at 12:34:17 All, I am trying to make a new, custom table appear in my Pervasive Control Center (PCC). After trying to run "ODBCDDF.run" in UT-A in one of my companies in DBA (i.e. company 93), I receive the following error on the screen: "An error occurred while copying FILE.NEW to FILE.DDF. Please contact DBA Support for futher help." Why does this error happen? What is a solution to avoid this error and successfully run ODBCDDF.run? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Roshan |

ODBCDDF is simply a utility that copies the DDF files from the root directory down through the directory structure. If you create a table in Pervasive, then the Pervasive ODBC driver should allow you to connect to it. But I believe you would have to make one connection for your main DBA data and one for the "custom" table. |

The table is created in the same data source as our companies. Thus we expect to use company 93s DSN also for the custom table. We have this working in our so-called "test" DBA environment. Of course we had this problem in our "test" DBA environment before, but somehow we got it to work by copying our File.ddf from the live version over the test ones and then ran ODBCDDF with no problem. However, once I tried installing the custom program and table on our live DBA and then implementing the same solution as we did in "test", we aren't able to fix it. The installation steps given by IS TECH were as follows: 1) Be in default company 2) Copy new *.upd and *.run files to ~/DBAMFG directory 3) Copy new *.B file to ~/DBAMFG/DEFAULT directory 2) run UPDFILE 3) Go to one of the companies (i.e. co. 93) , run ODBCDDF (To show the new custom table) 4) Then run ENZMWO (a custom program by IS Tech) Any thoughts on the possible solution? This problem has stumped me for some time. Thanks, Roshan |

Title: Re: Running ODBCDDF and getting FILE.DDF Error Post by roshan on 12/02/04 at 14:53:19 Lorne, I did. Unfortunately, Lynn of IS Tech was not able to answer this problem and directed me to this message board in hopes that I could find a solution here. She said I would have a chance to talk to people with good ODBC experience. - Roshan |
