I don't know if this is possible but if anyone has any suggestions it would be a great help!

We have a vendor we order a part from. however that part contains 5 parts that we need to track individually. some times we may sell one part. All of the time we have to pull the assembly appart and make changes before installation.

We could buy the individual parts themselves but that is more costly that buying the kit.

Is there a way to setup a "reverse BOM" on the part so that when it is received, the individual parts are extracted to inventory instead of the one master part?

any help or ideas would be appriciated.

Sure. Use a standard BOM. Receive the assembly, and create a work order for a negative quantity. Enter finished production for the negative quantity.

Watch your costs on the components...you may have to adjust these, at least the first time.
