Title: Migration tools for User-Security & Menus?
Post by vecsector on 01/27/05 at 06:54:31

I just upgraded a client to the Evo-Local 2005.1 from DBA 2004.1.

The only drawback is re-creating the security & user-menus for everyone in the system.

Is there a way to just migrate the current security & menu-security from the old DBA program into the Evo-Local program?

Not yet...

That is something Lynn and I have talked about and it is a project we want to do but have not had the time to schedule in yet.  Sorry

Luckily this is only about a 5-10 user site, so re-creation wouldn't be that bad.  I hate it for the guys out there with a 20+ user site!

Thanks for the info & reply!

Even for the 20+ user site (I have done a couple of them) it is actually easier than DBA was because of the Copy feature.  Typically there are a number of users with similar access so once one menu is set up, you can copy it for the others.  And unlike DBA where several users could share a security level but they would have the exact same access, in Evo you can copy a similar level and then make changes.
