Title: ODBCDDF.RUN Error
Post by roshan on 02/23/05 at 09:40:33

All,

I have imported a new custom table into my DBA.  I ran UPDFILE in default company, ran UT-J in default company, and then ran ODBCDDF in a non-default company (company 21).

Upon running ODBCDDF, I received this error,
"An error occurred while copying FILE.NEW to FILE.DDF.  Please contact DBA Support for further help."

I am at the last stage of implementing this new table.  If I make this work, then I can purchase this custom program from Lynn, and my company will be very happy.  Problem is I haven't been able to find a solution to this problem.  Please someone help if you know the solution to this problem.

Thanks,

Roshan

Ummm.....did you try running ODBCDDF from the default company? ;)

Okay I've tried that, no luck.

Here's what I did.

1) I ran UPDFILE in default company,
2) Now I ran ODBCDDF in default company,
3) Then I looked at pervasive control center (PCC), no custom table shown,
4) Then I went ahead and ran ODBCDDF in the non-default company where the new table should reside(company 21), and the error still appeared.

Any other solutions to try, please advise if so.

Thanks,

Roshan

All,

Also to let you know, the table data file does appear in the company folder (company 21).

However, the problem still stands that the table does not show up in Pervasive Control Center (PCC) due to ODBCDDF erroring.

Do you have an updated data dictionary for UPDFILE to use that includes the table definition?

Hmmm...  I know when I go run UPDFILE, I have to tag/untag a corresponding data structure of my table from a list.  I do find the table on the list and tag it.  Then I click "Process", and the program does it's task.  Could the file I click be missing a table definition or something???  How will I know this?

(Again thanks so much for helping, keep asking me questions and hopefully we can find the solution.)  I am amazed that this is not a common problem to others adding customs ISTECH programs.  I must, therefore, be missing something...

Can you see the data through MDB? If so, and bassed upon the fact it is appearing in the UPDFILE window then it IS in the data dictionary.

If that is the case, all I can suggest is email Lynn directly as it is an ISTS custom.

Yes, I can see the table in MDB and the UPDFILE window.  So, there must be some glitch in the custom software...

Thanks so much for you help.
