Title: Evo-ERP Forms Editor Instructions
Post by Lynn Pantic on 03/26/05 at 13:55:48

Finally put something together - www.istechsupport.com/editforms.pdf for instructions on using the newest Evo-ERP forms editor.  Some of the basics also apply to the DBA Classic Forms editor but it does not have the capability to add data fields, linked images, or bar code data fields.

I tried editing our traveler today.  We assign materials to a sequence and I want the bom remark to print under the component in the routing sequence section instead of the bom section at the end.  This will save our assemblers much time in flipping back and forth from their sequence to the bom in the back.

I tried adding the data field (bkbm.rm.remark) to tab childreport2subreport2 per the instruction.  But, it comes out blank (I made it visible).  I then tried just copying the remark field from the tab where it already appears (subreport3) to the tab where I want it to appear.  Again no luck.

According to the instruction, the editor will allow any field to be added but the program will only find the data if it is already called upon.  So, does this mean that I can or can't move a data field to another tab?

Thanks for your help.

And how do we know which file the program, for instance WO-C Print Travelers, opens?

Whenever you print anything that uses an RTM, it pops up a window that displays the RTM name.

Yes, I know which RTM to modify.  I renamed our current traveler to T6WOC4.RTM so I wouldn't mess up the one we are using now.  I then selected the T6WOC4.RTM to see if my changes worked.

I think Cathy is asking which files does the T6WOCX.RTM call upon (WORKORD, WOBOM, WOROUT, BKBRREMK, etc?)

Can I or can't I move a data field between tabs in a rtm file?

Thanks

Thanks, Sharon for clarifying my response; that is what I was asking. :)

OK, that makes a lot more sense (but is a bit trickier to answer).  What would probably be best would be to create a table listing the major forms and what files are opened and make that table available.

As for adding the BOM Remark field or moving it between subreports, I suspect that although the BM Remark file is open and on the correct record when the BOM subreport is printing, it is not open and pointing to the record when the Component by sequence subreport is printing in the Routing section.  If that is the case, we can add the command to point to the correct record in the file to the BOM in Sequence section and then what you did should work.

In general you can add pure data fields to the RTM but you can't move a calculated field to a different subreport.  And in the case of the Traveler, there are a lot of files involved so even if the one you want is open, it may not be pointing to the right place.

I did some more playing around with the forms editor and you are indeed right.  I was able to add a data field if the file for that tab is already being called upon.  For example, I was able to add the bom reference field (WOBOM.REFERENCE) to the childreport2subreport2 since it is already calling upon WOBOM for the other data fields on that tab.

As for Cathy's question, you can determine the available file by looking at the prefix (WOBOM in this case).  I believe this is easy to determine most of the time but not all.

So, I would love to see this capability added.  I'm assuming it would be similar to Crystal in that you would have to link the files?

I realized after I re-read my response, and confirmed when I read Sharon's, that I can tell in the rtm which files are being used most of the time because the field has a prefix.  I am sure that these forms make more sense to someone who is familiar with Crystal reports.  Unfortunately I am not.  So when I see a field like "multi.title" which is on the traveler for the Routing#, or "invno" and "oamt" on the Statement RTM, I haven't a clue.  This must be a calculated or linked or something field, not a field you can find in the DBA database.  I am assuming that we can't mess with any fields like this except maybe to move them around on the same tab.  But on the tabs with those kinds of fields, its hard to tell what file is being used.
Can we as users ( not programmers) add calculated fields to these reports?
Probably what I need to do is to go to the services tab in the forum and get a custom form done.  I 'm just too curious and would like to know more about how these are made.  I would very much like to see a table like the one you suggest, Lynn, but It sounds like a bottom of the list kind of thing to me! :D
