Title: Data Collection Post by BOXMAN on 05/13/05 at 06:28:39 We are considering implementing data collection stations on the floor with DBA. One of the issues we are running into is the number of users DBA allows us to use at one time. Will we have to purchase an additional user liscense for each data terminal (we are thinking of adding 5 or more) and if so how do we go about doing this now with the whole Next-gen/DBA Classic/EVO thing? -Mark S & S Packaging Products Cranesville, PA |
Title: Re: Data Collection Post by Lynn Pantic on 05/13/05 at 07:14:23 Yes, each Data Collection terminal requires a DBA or Evo license as well as Pervasive. If you need additional licenses for Labor collection, IS Tech offers a specially priced DC-Only Evo license which will only allow the user to run DC-A, DC-B and DC-C. You don't have to purchase fully priced licenses for these additional users if all you need them for is Data Collection stations. DBA only offers one flavor of DBA Classic seats so you would have to buy full priced licenses from them and I think they are only available in increments of 5 while seats from IS Tech are available in any increment. And I don't believe new Classic seats purchased from DBA get you anything towards Next Gen, only those seats you had as of whatever the cutoff date was a couple of years ago so that becomes a non-issue at this point. Don't think NG has real-time labor collection yet anyhow. |

Title: Re: Data Collection Post by aricon on 05/13/05 at 08:19:31 Lynn is correct that NG does not have data collection yet. As of the last update from DBA it looks like it will still be a while yet before they get their stuff together and deliver that functionality. |
