Title: Problem printing thumbnails on Traveler
Post by David Waldmann on 07/22/05 at 11:52:54

I have a working link in IN-B, as I can click the camera button and it will open.

I entered a "T" and "B" under Tra.

I re-named T6WOC2.RTX dated 3/31/05 to RTM.

Nothing happens.

If I change the type from Thumbnail to Link, after printing the Traveler I get a little "dialog" that says "Printing", with a blank space where it looks like you could (and can) type something. But nothing happens there either.

???

What kind of file?  Thumbnails have to be images such as JPG files.  Word Doc and PDF files must be links, not thumbnails.

John, the file I sent you today for the link didn't help?

I installed that file and no change

I've tried both GIF & JPG types.

We are getting the images on Travelers, but I get that little dialog box "Printing" it acts like it wants something entered, but you can't enter anything and you cannot get past it, except for Ctrl Alt Del and ending task.

I did have to move my files in the server to a higher level because the path names were too long and I ran out of room...hope this can be fixed in the future.

I am using t6woc2.rtm

I cannot get a screen shot to post onto this page so I'll e-mail you my screen shots in IN-B, maybe it'll help.

Karen,

I got your screen shots. Mine are identical (except that I set it up to use global path).

I wouldn't think that the setting of "Print Linked Documents?" would make any difference to print thumbnails, but I've tried it every way and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I only get the "Printing..." dialog if I change the type in IN-B from Thumbnail to Link.

My answer to "Print Linked Documents" is "Y".  The only thing I have gotten to print is the jpeg picture of our part on the Traveler.  When I have linked other things like word docs or xcel files, I get that "Printing" dialog box-and they never print.

Just for the heck of it, I'll send you my RTM.  You can see if your JPEG file prints on it.

Just to report, Dave used my t6woc2.rtm Traveler and it printed his jpeg pictures.  He is going to try to see what the differences are between his & mine.

Still have this unresolved issue of the "Printing" dialog box and the inability to actually print other types of files.

The difference seems to be that the box where the thumnail prints is different - the original one in mine had a data field name of image.print, and the one from Karen is PTD.ARRAY[1] and PTD.ARRAY[2] (there are two of them, but only the first one seems to do anything. I deleted the second one.

Furtunately (and very surprisingly!) I was able to copy the one from Karen's form and paste it into mine and it now works in my form :o

The guys in the shop are gonna love this ;D

THANKS!

Welll, I just tried to print my traveler with the excel document that is attached to the parent part, and I failed completely.  After The traveler started printing, and I was back to the printer screen, I was asked if I was done printing ( link has not shown up yet) and when I said yes then that screen cleared and I got a Printing LInk screen.  This screen had a box with Printing: and a blank with nothing in it.  Of course, it was completely frozen-  had to go to task manager to kill the program.  I used both t6woc2.rtm and t6woc4.rtm (the newer one with thumbnails for components).  This did work at one time but something has changed.
