Title: Balance Sheet doesnt match Aging
Post by worlduph on 09/28/05 at 10:26:26

Why doesnt the liability Accounts Payable on the Balance sheet equal the Vendor Past due aging?

How can I get them to match?

Thank you.

Print your A/P aging with a way far in the future date and see if the balance is the same. Sometimes dates can be entered in the future a lot of different ways and they will not print on the aging.

Does the Aging match your trial balance? If so, go to System Manager UT-K-D Recalculate Chart of Accounts. You'll need everyone else out of DBA. It will also suggest backing up BKGLCOA and running a print out before proceeding.

Did anyone make a journal entry adjustment? This will make the aging not match the balance sheet.

If you need to make a journal entry to make the AP Aging and the Financial Stmt A/P agree, I would use the AP Aging as being correct, and do a journal entry adjustment in the General Journal to A/P Liability.

You also would need to determine the offsetting expense account - i.e. inventory, office expense, or the ever safe miscellaneous expense.

Hopefully, this will cure the current problem, and everything should balance from this point forward.
