ran consolidate inv transactiona through 9/30/04 and the system process ran ok but did not consolidate? Any ideas?

I tried that, but it didn't seem to consolidate finished goods or items with lot/serial number.

That is correct, it skips any transactions with Lot or Serial numbers because that is the file used for the Lot and Serial History reports.

I know it wont do lot/serial # parts but it didnt do any parts. It showed a 658 page report at the end of the process and each page showed consolidations but they dont show consolidated on inventory inquiry. Go figure.

What transaction types did you request for it to do? After thinking about it, I remembered that I entered all types except S, because I wanted to retain look-up capability for shipments.

I did it for all transaction types. I left the first date blank and the second date I set for 09/30/04. Our last consolidation was end of 2002. I still see that consolidation but not this one.

What version of DBA are you on? THere was a problem that was fixed that made the date of the consolidation 1904 instead of 2004. The only way to see them is to pick transactions with no date ie 00/00/00 to 00/00/00. They show up before 2002. Do a search for consolidate inventory transactions to read about it. I still have transactions out there with a 1902 date; have never gotten around to fixing them!

Just figured out something else that I think changed due to an IS Tech update when the usage button was added to Invetory Inquiry.

I did a consolidation on one part and put in dates in all fields. Instead of seeing Type A(adjustment) P(P/O reciepts) and I ( work order issues) one line for each type representing the consolidation for the entire period, no I get Monthy Consolidation Type I only one line for each month during the consolidation period.

If this is a change I wish it would be documented somewhere.

My copy of the Help file has this paragraph :

A balance forward per month will be created for each transaction type that rolls up the net units and average cost into a single record. This enables records to be purged without affecting the inventory transaction file's monthly total net units and costs, which are needed by the SM-J-C Reconcile Inventory On-Hand program to balance the totals in the inventory transaction file with the on-hand quantity in the inventory master record and by the monthly Usage button in IN-A Inventory Inquiry.
