Title: using estimates Post by cathyh on 10/07/05 at 07:56:28 We are looking more closely at the estimates module to give us a price on new product as well as modified old product. A while back it was mentioned that estimates might get their own BOM and Routing record instead of permanently changing an existing one. This has been a major stumbling block for us since we often need to quote certain modifications to an item number but don't want to change the standard bill; we just need an estimate of what the changes would cost. Has this been changed, or if not is there any chance of it being changed in the near future? |
Title: Re: using estimates Post by David Waldmann on 10/07/05 at 09:25:33 It has NOT been changed, though I too would like it to be. Along with the addition of linking pics/docs to the estimate, followed by the work order.... |

Title: Re: using estimates Post by kevind on 10/08/05 at 07:31:44 I only have one major concern with the Estimates module using it's own BOM and Routing. We use the Estimate module extensively for standard product pricing. If this module can ONLY use it's own BOM and Routings, then we will have duplicate data that we would need to try and keep in sync (Like AR-A and CM-A). When we want to use it to price a modification of a standard product, we just copy the standard product BOM and Routing to another Item # (kind of a pro-forma BOM and Routing), make modifications to it, and then use the Estimater on this new item #. |
