Title: can DBA Classic ISTech Update be uninstalled Post by Joseph on 11/02/05 at 05:20:38 I'm in the IT Department of my company and am in charge of maintaining DBA Classic and making sure it runs. One of the managers bought a subscription here and wants the ISTech Update installed on our installation of DBA Classic. I'd like to know if the ISTech Update is installed, can it be undone at a later time, or is it a one-way process? |
Title: Re: can DBA Classic ISTech Update be uninstalled Post by JNAPIER on 11/02/05 at 06:39:18 I always make a complete backup of our DBA/EVO file set before any update and name the file the version #. That way I can go back to any version I wish. As long as you backup your *.B files daily as I'm sure you do, rolling back to a different version is a no brainer. The only exception is possibly a data conversion when a table structure is changed might do strange things going back. I'm am sure that you would never want to go back. Lynn has done some great things over the years to this program. I have used DBA since the DOS day's. John John |
Title: Re: can DBA Classic ISTech Update be uninstalled Post by Joseph on 11/08/05 at 11:14:26 What files does ISUPDATE change? I need to uinstall it because no one can get into our Inventory now. |
Title: Re: can DBA Classic ISTech Update be uninstalled Post by Lynn Pantic on 11/08/05 at 11:39:55 What do you mean "nobody can get into inventory"? If you are getting errors, it is because you missed a step in the installation and need to get it fixed, not uninstall it. |
Title: Re: can DBA Classic ISTech Update be uninstalled Post by Joseph on 11/09/05 at 12:11:23 Basically I went into the default company and when I tried to run UPDFILE is says I'm not in the default company. I'm thinking our installation of DBA Classic is corrupt in some way. I was able to "uninstall" and not lose the days work by restoring a backup of the \DBAMFG directory but not the B files. I accidently copied the update to the live server instead of the test server and could not complete the update because of the above error. Update: Turns out the login I was using was corrupt. I created a new login with access to the default company and it worked. |
