Title: Calendar for purchase part lead time Post by JaySchmitendorf on 01/05/06 at 07:26:48 It looks like MRP is using the lead time and a Working Day Calendar to determine the date to buy an item. We have been thinking lead time was Gregorian Calendar or 'actual' days. Should the manual define lead time as [Business] days it takes from ordering from the vendor to receipt of the item? Did we do something wrong? |
Title: Re: Calendar for purchase part lead time Post by cathyh on 11/08/06 at 16:40:31 I love revisiting very old posts.... I thought just the opposite, that DBA used the work calendar to estimate arrival date but when I wrote a PO on 11/7/06 for an item with 20 day lead time(supposedly 4 weeks), it estimated the arrival date as 11/27/06. I am subbing for the materials manager so I am having to re-educate myself (haven't done this in a long time) but it looks like our lead times are wrong. Any way to make it use the work calendar? |
Title: Re: Calendar for purchase part lead time Post by Lynn_Pantic on 11/08/06 at 17:59:07 Purchasing/MRP for placing PO uses the actual calendar because your shop calendar and work days may not correspond to your vendor's and you potentially need to allow shipping time, etc. You need to bump up the lead times accordingly. Manufacturing/Work Orders uses the shop calendar because that is within your control (as much as anything is). |
