Title: WO-A Notes and Routing Lines
Post by rmh148 on 01/31/06 at 12:35:23

I guess I just don't get it!  Work order notes that were stored on MTWO_WIP_INSTR[ 1] thru [ 6] and display in WO-A and print on travelers are no longer there?  Where are the notes now being stored and how can I get back to normal?

Notes are now stored in ISWODESC to remove the 6 line limit on them.  You can now have any number of lines of Notes associated with a Work Order.

The problem with that is that all of the notes that have been attached to work orders for the last five years are not in ISWODESC. Additionally, all of the reports and processes like travelers and invoices now have to be modified to relate and look somewhere else.  Major effort, unless you have modified all the forms and all we have to do is rework any custom reports and data extracts!!!!!!!

All the notes from the history were transfered to the ISWODESC file. If they were not then contact us and we will tell you how to re run the utility that moves them.  As for reports, we modified those too, so make sure you have the latest RTM's.  If you have done your own custom reports, you will need to modify them to pull the info from the ISWODESC file.

It does not appear that it move all of them correctly.  So I probably need to run the utility.  Additionally, have you also modified all of the work order archive and maintenance programs to move the notes in ISWODESC to a history files or will these be lost when I do maintenance and more stuff to history?

Hate to be a pest but, I have 73 custom reports that I now need to modify before I can use DBA as it currently exists.  This was not transparent to the users!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, what are the new files ISWOEX.B and ISWOROEX.B suppose to be doing?

Can someone answer the questions? What is the utility to ensure that they all moved.

Additionally, have you also modified all of the work order archive and maintenance programs to move the notes in ISWODESC to a history files or will these be lost when I do maintenance and more stuff to history?

And finally, what are the new files ISWOEX.B and ISWOROEX.B suppose to be doing?

From Lynn's e-mail 11/18/05:

"Note that this update uses Installshield rather than just a WinZip extraction so please download and read the complete instructions (PDF file on the download page) before installing."

Those instructions worked for me. Maybe you can redownload the instructions and find what you need there. I can't remember the name of the utility.

Although I have over a hundred crystal reports for DBA, I only had to fix a couple that use the work order notes.
Minor inconvenience for the much greater flexibilty and search possibilities.

Thanks, Deburr, for your reply.  I have many reports that need to be repaired.  Which will take a lot of time being that you are going for six fields on a single work order line to a one work order line related by work order prefix and suffix to multiple lines in the ISWODESC file.  I will have to getrrr done.

However, I am still waiting for a IS Tech person to respond to the work order archive and maintenance programs questions.  I ran an archive expecting it to move the notes in ISWODESC to a history file. But, it appears that it leaves all of them in ISWODESC when I did maintenance and moved stuff to history.  This file will grow forever?

And I asked for more information about new files ISWOEX.B and ISWOROEX.B.  What are they suppose to be doing?
