Title: Inventory is off Post by David Waldmann on 05/16/06 at 05:57:52 We have a serious problem with our inventory. Here are a few (of many) examples: Item one: IN-A/F say on-hand today is 391, but it's actually 1151. This led me to discover that, IN-E from the beginning of time shows net transaction of 1151 (exact match). IN-F as-of 12/31/05 says -321. PI-F as-of 12/31/05 shows frozen 391, counted 439, difference 48. Item two: IN-A/F say on-hand today is 1077, but it's actually about 40. IN-E from the beginning of time shows net transaction of 106 - within the bounds of normal fluctuation IN-F as-of 12/31/05 says 2083. PI-F as-of 12/31/05 shows frozen 1004, counted 1112, difference 108. Item three: IN-A/F say on-hand today is 0, but it's actually 455. IN-E from the beginning of time shows net transaction of 455 - exact match. IN-F as-of 12/31/05 says -455. PI-F as-of 12/31/05 shows frozen 0, counted 0, difference 0. Nothing makes sense. It would be one thing if everything was at least off the same way, but what is especially puzzling is that IN-F and PI-F don't agree. I haven't done anything with DBA recently. The only thing I did is a System Restore on my workstation last Friday. Yesterday is the first time anyone has noticed a problem, but I have no idea when it actually started. HELP!!! |
Title: Re: Inventory is off Post by cathyh on 05/16/06 at 07:10:48 Did anyone do consolidation of inventory transactions (UT-K-E) as of 12/31/05? The last time I did a consolidation,we had major problems in our inventory. When we ran the reconcile inventory routine, DBA created lots of corrections that should not have been necessary. I can't remember the exact details but I could look into it. |
Title: Re: Inventory is off Post by David Waldmann on 05/16/06 at 10:18:07 No, I've never consolidated inventory. In the mean time I've figured out that I can get today's figures right by SM-J-C Transaction Method B. But it doesn't tell me what happened, and there are pages of "$" adjustments on the report.... |
Title: Re: Inventory is off Post by rmh148 on 05/16/06 at 12:12:18 Check INVTXN for null date. I found a bunch of adjustments (PI) that had a null date. Was able to use SQL to insert the actual date of the inventory. I believe that all of these null date items were type "A", adjustment. |
Title: Re: Inventory is off Post by David Waldmann on 05/17/06 at 06:02:29 I'm not sure how to check for null date, but I opened INVTXN in Maintain Database, sorted by date, and the first and last dates are all valid. |
Title: Re: Inventory is off Post by Lynn Pantic on 05/17/06 at 06:18:04 David, now that you got it corrected, please check it again after a couple of hours so if something is off we may be able to quickly identify why. |
Title: Re: Inventory is off Post by JNAPIER on 05/17/06 at 06:27:33 When we started using multiple locations, I tried in my test Co. UT-K-E to move all our inventory to a new location. It had a problem with serialized items when you tried to release them on an order. I had the bright idea to use MDB to enter the new location name in the existing records. In theory it worked fine, but if I run reconcile inventory B it has 50 pages of bad location records and crazy UOH differences all showing $. I have never ran it other than in report mode only! Now my transaction reports always have screwy #'s? John |
Title: Re: Inventory is off Post by rmh148 on 06/02/06 at 13:03:52 This still does not work correctly. I am using 9/25/2005 version and when I consolidated all of the old stuff I backed up everything, watched it very closely. I ran SM-J-C before the colsolidate, run the consolidate for everything older than 12/31/2004, and I found that there were items that lost, did not write a record, for the last consolidate month. I had "1100" SM-J-C adjustments after running consolidate. Something is definitely not working. |
