In the MR-A Enter Forecast, I have a user that would like to use the import feature. As described in the help files we have created a comma delimited text file with one line as follows:

A-40101,20060601,10

Which are Item number, Date, Quantity.
When I click Import Data I am prompted with the file name and location, Comma Delimited or Fixed Length and six more fields which are not mentioned in the help files. I enter C for comma delimited and the left three fields appear to me to be field location or order in the file and the right three appear to fixed field length which should not aply to my Comma Delimited file. I have tried 0,1,2 and 1,2,3 in the left column fields. This is followed by a confirmation message box abnout the ISO date format required. Upon YES to this message screen falls back to MR-A screen and my new forecast item is nopt in list. What am I missing? What are the six fields supposed to be?

Comma Delimited should be the 1,2,3 in the left column and nothing on teh right side.

I supply a comma delimited file with only one line.

Your first post has a date of 20060601, but the second is 20060631. Maybe it validates the date?

The imported dates must be greater than or equal to the current date and must also be a valid date. June 31 is not a valid date.

OK I had an invalid date the seccond time. Now I am supplying this one line txt file.

A-40102,20060701,10

All fields are valid. I enter "C" for Comma Delimited and then enter 1,2,3 in the left fields and 0,0,0 in the right fields, then answer YES to the ISO Date warning message and nothing happens. I am returned to the MR-A main screen and the forecast from the import file is not in the list. No errors or messages of any kind.

Has this worked for anyone else?

The part must be a vaild part (i.e. exist in BKICMSTR) and not be a type K or type B.

The item is listed in IN-A and is a Type R, what else?

Sounds pretty frustrating. I have imported CSV files at least 200 times so I know it works.

I don't see anything wrong on your 6/5 post as long as your system date is correct and the part is valid.

Does your file have a CSV extension?

The only thing that ever trips me up is typing the path correctly. If I type the path wrong, I get the same results you describe.

I am using a file name of MRA.TXT and it was in my local c: so I was supplying a path of C:\MRA.TXT. After seeing your path I copied this file to the network share so now my path is P:\Default\MRA.TXT and the import worked. I added several more lines and imported a second time just to test and it now works correctly.

It depends on where your csv file is located.
