when i use AR-L to transfer sales tax, should it post to the purchases journal?  it is posting to the other journal? thanks

Yes, it should definitely post to the purchases journal.  After the transfer, use GL-0 and print the transaction (that way you have it as a backup, too). That's what our Accounting Dept. does.

If you do not want the transfer posting to the OTHER JOURNAL, inform your bookkeeper to call up the transactions in the OTHER BATCH and change the journal type via GL-P from "Other" to "Purchases", before the transactions are posted in the General Ledger via GL-O.

Similarly, when I transfer Sales Commission Earned to Accounts Payable via CS-D, these transactions also appear in the OTHER journal rather than Purchases (for account payable).
