Title: Importing PI Tag counts Post by FPI on 06/16/06 at 06:58:00 We will be attempting to use the import tags count feature for our next PI. I am assuming that I freeze inventory as per norm and we normally take the option to zero out any item not counted. Does importing the tag counts still allow the system to zero out any item not counted? Also - anyone have experience importing tag counts? Any pitfalls? We will be running a test import before actual PI, but I would appreciate hearing about any real live experiences. Thanks - FPI |
Title: Re: Importing PI Tag counts Post by fdiala on 06/16/06 at 09:11:05 I always use import tags, its more efficient. If you set your Physical count to set un-counted items to zero, it will do it just as entering the tags one by one. Over all I had no problems using the import option. The only thing is that when you make ur import file, make sure to set up the location. In our case, we only have one location - blank location, I had to create an empty field for that. Good luck, Diala |
Title: Re: Importing PI Tag counts Post by rmh148 on 06/16/06 at 09:14:11 I wrote a separate VB program to print count tags and create a feed to PI tables. Then ran the import to apply changes. The only import problem I had was where it updated BIN location. When we counted an item in multiple bin locations for a master location (blank) you run the risk of not ending up with the "primary" location on the item master. The reason that I wrote a VB program to create count ticket was so I could preprint a lot of the item information as well as control the sort sequencing. I count then tell the counter where start his/her count, what way suppose to be in the location, the unit of measure to count it in, an in some cases I provided an audit count so that exceptions could be handled without a second trip to the floor. It also made ticket entry go much faster. Two years ago it took them 4 days to count and reconcile 20000 items, this year it only required a day and a half. |
