Title: IN-A very slow after 08/11 Update
Post by Vman on 08/29/06 at 07:21:38

Since installing the 08/11 update, IN-A in EVO has gotten very slow.  I timed it this morning, and from the time the part number was entered until the screen had completely loaded (i.e. buttons appeared), was 7 seconds.
If I load DBA classic, IN-A takes about 2 seconds.  This is over our Peer-to-Peer network on the same computer.  This lag is driving my purchaser nuts(who in turn is driving me nuts :)).  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have noticed the same problem - I am the only EVO user at the moment in our facility - everyone else is still on classic...basic screens take much longer to come up on my screen in evo than if I log into my server remotely, fire up dba classic and go to the same screen...

I don't know, mine loads in two seconds. Our server and workstations are pretty beefy, maybe that is the difference?

I have about 1-2 seconds as well.

Our server is 5 years old and not very robust by today's standards - dual Xeon .933 Ghz w/256MB. My workstation is a bit more modern but not out of the ordinary - 3.4 Ghz & 1GB. Another user's Celeron 1Ghz w/512MB is only slightly slower - maybe a full 2 seconds.

My setup is peer-to-peer and not client/server.  I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.  My boss has inqured about reverting back to an earlier EVO update, but I have told him I didn't think that would work and even if it did, it wouldn't be a good idea.
A little more information-  it takes about 5 to 6 seconds for the "checking sales orders" message to appear.  About a second or so after that, the buttons show up.

That seems to vary (for us) by the item we're viewing. I think it has to do with the number of transactions in the inventory file (whether they're on SOs or not).

For instance, my LABOR item will take 45 seconds to "check Sales Orders" even though we never sell it, while other items that we do sell only take a fraction of a second to "check Sales Orders".

Just to be clear, the window shows up complete with all buttons in a second or two, regardless of how long it takes to "check Sales Orders". Sometimes one is complete before the other. I am guessing that "Checking Sales Orders" is actually "Rebuild Stock Status", since I know that does happen when you view an item in IN-A.

Try an item that has very few transactions and see if there's a difference.

David,

Yes, Checking Sales Orders is really Rebuild Stock Status, the Mesage was never updated.. and It seem in T6 it is slower then in Classic due to screen refreshes (dos vrs Windows) but in the new T7INA (will be released at the symposium) I have solved that issue and it rebuilds quickly again (like the dos version).

Thanks NovaZyg for the update.  I hope that the improved code will be released in an upcomming update.  Until then, I will try to appease the masses ;D
