Title: McAfee issue
Post by remcal on 09/15/06 at 05:21:12

We seem to be having a problem between EVO and Mcafee Security suite.  Right now we are running EVO 2006.1 with the 5/8 update.  When we exit a screen, we get the following error;

TRSDKd ww: C;\ISTS\tp7runtime.exe: tp7runtine.exe - application arror
The instruction at "0x0343a716" referenced memory at "0x035820c4". The memory could not be "read".

This error does not cause any problems or data loss, it is just annoying.

However, when we tried to do the august update:

Started Evo from the main server - worked fine.
Started Evo from one workstation - worked fine (even tried WO-A as suggested and it was fine.
(Notation here - the server and that workstation are running Symantec Antivirus  or the Norton version of it.

Went to another workstation, and subsequent workstations - (another note - all of which run McAfee Antivirus and Firewall)
When you click the icon.  It gives you an error - the Mcafee firewall screen comes up asking if you want to give access to TP7runtime  (you grant access)  And then it starts up EVO - the logon screen comes up, you log on successfully.

At this point, if you try to go into ANY screen, IN-A or WO-A, the program freezes and must be shut down in Task Manager.

I would love to run the august update, but right now it seems I can't.

Any clues?

Remcal:

You need to log into your McAfee admin site (er, if you're running the enterprise version where you manage all from one site) and run the report that identifies Unrecognized Programs.  Here's what I do, and if you are not running at an enterprise level you can probably stilln figure out how to do the same at each individual workstation:

I log into the McAfee ASAP site.
I select Reports
I choose the "Unrecognzed Programs" report.
This report lists internet applications and/or potentially unwanted programs not yet approved. I review the report to identify and monitor the programs running on computers on my network, then make additions to my policies.  When I began rolling out the McAfee Security Suite, we initially had issues running Evo.  I had to go in and specifically tell it to allow TP5WDBA.EXE for the specific groups/policies.  Once I did that, no problems.

Actually, the fix turned out to be uninstalling Mcafee Privacy Service.  Once that was done, no issues.
