Title: Problems with McAfee Post by remcal on 09/15/06 at 09:49:02 We seem to be having a problem between EVO and Mcafee Security suite. Right now we are running EVO 2006.1 with the 5/8 update. When we exit a screen, we get the following error; TRSDKd ww: C;\ISTS\tp7runtime.exe: tp7runtine.exe - application arror The instruction at "0x0343a716" referenced memory at "0x035820c4". The memory could not be "read". This error does not cause any problems or data loss, it is just annoying. However, when we tried to do the august update: Started Evo from the main server - worked fine. Started Evo from one workstation - worked fine (even tried WO-A as suggested and it was fine. (Notation here - the server and that workstation are running Symantec Antivirus or the Norton version of it. Went to another workstation, and subsequent workstations - (another note - all of which run McAfee Antivirus and Firewall) When you click the icon. It gives you an error - the Mcafee firewall screen comes up asking if you want to give access to TP7runtime (you grant access) And then it starts up EVO - the logon screen comes up, you log on successfully. At this point, if you try to go into ANY screen, IN-A or WO-A, the program freezes and must be shut down in Task Manager. I would love to run the august update, but right now it seems I can't. Any clues? |
Title: Re: Problems with McAfee Post by dameng on 09/15/06 at 11:10:35 1. you can perform the 8/11/06 update on the server. 2. on the clients with Macafee, you can make a configuration setting in the Pervasive client to increase the buffer size, which MAY help with the application error etc. open Pervasive control center on workstation. go to configuration ( or in Perv 9 clik on configure microkernal router ) locate the Performance tuning, set the key to use cache engine. apply the changes, and exit. now retest evo. |
Title: Re: Problems with McAfee Post by remcal on 09/26/06 at 10:09:19 Dameng, Tried the suggestion before trying the August update to see if it wil affect the errors we get upon leaving a menu. No effect. In Pervasive 2000 the only key under performance tuning is "Compress IDS data". Turned that on with no effect. |
Title: Re: Problems with McAfee Post by Laura Oliver on 09/26/06 at 11:26:16 Are you by chance running Internet Security Suite 9 ? McAfee released an upgrade at the end of July. It has been a complete disaster. They have issued several patches, all which have had limited success. Have you gone to? http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewforum.php?f=103&topicdays=0&start=780 The forum makes for an interesting read. Often there is no mercy given to those techs. (Especially after the 1st patch) One of the many known issues is that it is NOT compatible with much software. There are temporary workarounds on the forum. And I noticed another new patch was just been released. Funny thing is, it works fine on some computers and wreaks havoc on others. We are experiencing problems on only one computer. Most folks on the forum are complaining that IE and AOL is slow, and that specific software does not work . I do not know whether are not they are having problems with the other suites. I do know this one rendered our computer useless for several days. I have used McAfee for years, and it is not until now that I have considered changing. |
Title: Re: Problems with McAfee Post by gtladmin on 09/27/06 at 11:29:00 We run the McAfee Security Suite as well, and after installing the suite, the first time you access Evo it will get flagged on the firewall. You have to select allow, then actually restart the workstation so the policy gets updated for the TP7 program file, then Evo is OK after that. I have found that's the only way to get it to work. Title: Re: Problems with McAfee Post by remcal on 11/10/06 at 07:39:10 Success - a suggestion from a Mcafee Programmer to Delete the Privacy Service from the installation worked. Evidently there is a conflict there. |
Title: Re: Problems with McAfee Post by gtladmin on 11/10/06 at 10:43:51 So how'd you do that? I don't recall seeing anything in our setup for Privacy settings..... Val |
Title: Re: Problems with McAfee Post by remcal on 11/17/06 at 11:31:22 There isn't. Simply uninstall the Privacy Service using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Once it is removed, all works well. Functionally, the Privacy service doesn't seem very functional to me in a business environment. |
