Title: ODBC SETUP Post by rstewart442 on 10/30/06 at 10:34:31 i just setup PSQL 2000i on a new windows 2003 server. DBA is up and working fine after running DDCHECK on my files and fixing a few file issues. I now want to use ODBC to connect into the system and do some reporting. ODBC was working fine on the old server before the move so I know DDF files were generated. I changed the ODBC connection IP address to the IP of the new server, but it still will not work. My question is do I need to use system manager UT-J to create the DDF files again? If so, then I would expect I need to setup the DSN on the server again as well. What are the steps to create a System DSN that I can point users to? Thanks, |
Title: Re: ODBC SETUP Post by JNAPIER on 10/30/06 at 12:11:09 To create ODBC files for DBA go to UT-A and run ODBCDDF.RUN This will create odbc DDF Files. You will than need to create an odbc connection on your server. John |
Title: Re: ODBC SETUP Post by rstewart442 on 10/30/06 at 12:46:16 Jnapier, Thanks. I ran ODBCDDF. I was able to then setup a System DSN on the server and get everything working correctly. Quick note to anyone else reading this thread - I found that it is best to setup one System DSN for each Company and to point to that one company subdirectory when setting up the data Dictionary. I tried to setup one DSN but got strange results from the connection. It worked more reliably once I setup one DSN for a company and used the subdirectory location for that companies data dictionary. |
