Post by Kelloggs on 11/10/06 at 08:13:12

I would like someone to give me a quick explanation of the following security features:

Window: PS-A

1.- Can Use Maintan Database and Check File Integrity?
2.- Security Level [1-999]
3.- Security Code [A/P/1/2/C/V/U]

Regards,

1 - says whether or not you will allow a user to go in and edit (add, delete, modify) any records in any EvoERP database.  It is a *very powerful* utility and access should not be granted lightly, as you can end up trashing your data if you use it incorrectly.

2- From the EVoERP help file:
"The Security Level [1-999] is used in the future Evo-ERP lookup drill-down grids to control which user can see and/or change which data.  Level 1 is the administrator level that can see and edit all data and level 999 is the least privileged user.  It is not yet used."

3 - From the EvoERP help file:
"The Security Code controls what menu access in Evo-ERP a user will have if no user-defined Menu exists for the user name.  A=Admin; P=Power User; 1=Sales Rep 1; 2=Sales Rep 2; C=Customer; V=Vendor; U=User.  If nothing is defined then User will be used...."

An "A" user will have access to every single menu item there is.  P a little less, etc.  I don't know what exactly each has access to after A.  Maybe Lynn or Allen can help there.

1.  Actually, this is not used in Evo at all.  It does control access to Maintain Database in Classic.  Maintain Database in Evo is on  the TAS menu in System Manager and therefore controlled by normal menu access.
2.  The Grids and Drill Downs do use this now; the Help needs to be updated.  It controls which grids a user can see and whether they can actually edit the data in the lookup grids.  If it is blank, no editing is allowed.
3.  These are ONLY Used if a user does not have a menu defined in TAS-G for their login ID.  "A" gets the Admin menu.  "P" for Power User gets everything except Password Security and some System Manager Utilities.  "U" for User gets Items, Mfg and Sales.  You can edit the POWERUSER and USER menus in TAS-G.  The 1,2,C & V are for sales reps and customers and vendors who may be allowed remote accesds and should be used carefully.
