Title: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by cathyh on 12/07/06 at 08:23:00 I am researching the differences between these two contact managers and wonder if anyone with experience in either or both could let me know how they compare. We have alot of data in our contact manager but have never fully used it. In ACT! a more robust user friendly CM than DBA? I know typing things like history and follow-up in DOS based DBA is cumbersome- are there any plans to Window-ize the CM in Evo? |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by NovaZyg on 12/07/06 at 10:23:41 Cathy, Just wait a little bit longer.. Do you remember Tim, from the Phoenix symposium. He is developing with us to get a product called vtiger.crm (open source version salesforce.com) that will replace the current DBA CM. He says it is almost done. ;) |

Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by Lenette on 03/21/07 at 13:56:57 Am I interested in this as well. |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by LeAnn Cucchiara on 04/06/07 at 08:23:23 We, too are very interested. We have just taken on another venture that was utilizing salesforce.com - when I look at this I cringe. It would be nice to have something that ties into EVO, that is user-friendly & not so expensive. [smiley=beer.gif] |

Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by kkmfg on 05/02/07 at 09:07:15 You need to sneak in late at night and abduct Alan. Then take him to a room containing only a desk, computer, chair, huge coffee pot, and two dozen donuts. Optionally you might consider a toilet too. But if not that'll just make him hurry more. ;) shadowcaster wrote:

Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by Lynn_Pantic on 06/01/07 at 08:38:21 I got an email from Tim this morning. He has the database migrated from MySQL to Pervasive so it can be a real time link but some of the queries still need to be converted. Progress is being made. |

Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by Lynn_Pantic on 08/28/07 at 08:10:19 Yes, I got an email from Tim yesterday and he is VERY close to having something available. It will be posted on the IS Tech site as soon as we have something. |

It will be posted on the IS Tech site as soon as we have something. Good News BTW Ive installed V-Tiger and we are using it for leads and Trouble tickets everyone here seems to like using it. |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by gtladmin on 09/10/07 at 07:26:27 oooh, we'd love to test as we are quite anxious to get Vtiger working and get out of CM. We really need a much more useful program for sales! Val |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by GasGiant on 10/01/07 at 13:07:34 Close, but not that close? I know that I never should have mentioned this to anyone here... now the boss is bugging ME about it ::) |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by timgolds on 10/01/07 at 21:51:53 OK. Ive been very busy! I have two issues I have to solve before Beta! (unless you want to hire me to install it at your site) 1: I have to change the IIS meta data to read/write for the data directory programatically. (it's not that hard to do manually but You need to know what you are doing) 2: I need to convert the CM and AR customer files to a form that works with Evo-Sales (Was Vtiger) I can manually create the procedure and view but I need to install it. When these are done, it will be available for use. If you would like to see it in action now (minus the Evo/DBA link since that's a security issue on my server) go to http://www.chiefgeektek.com/demo login as guest password: letmein I have a 1M pipe and the server needs more memory and may go down for updates (or stupid programmer crashes) but you can see what it looks like and how it works. Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by gtladmin on 10/02/07 at 09:58:12 Nice job, Tim! I like! So this is based off SugarCRM (open source edition?) and not vTigerCRM? Thought we were looking at vTiger....they look essentially the same, though. Are you going to change the default colors, or make it so it grabs the desktop colors like Evo? Do you think the blue background is a little harsh on the eyes compared to a white or offwhite? Very interesting, I would love to see it with EvoERP data when you are ready! It looks pretty nice. I had SugarCRM open source on my laptop for a while. It was a nifty program. Will this be an add-on, or come in an update to EvoERP? Will we be able to link to other email clients, for those of use who don't use Outlook? Val |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by gtladmin on 10/02/07 at 10:14:58 Ahhh....I see I answered one question--there are themes you can apply, so that's good! Val |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by Lynn_Pantic on 10/02/07 at 11:18:31 To answer one of your questions, there will be a core version that will be included as an update to Evo-ERP and then Tim plans to have some other features available as add-ons for a few gazillion dollars. |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by gtladmin on 10/02/07 at 12:14:08 Ok, so only a few gazillion dollars, eh? How affordable..... ;) Are you guys using the Talend product for linking to EvoERP? I was looking at that in JasperServer and BI suite, as their ETL product is the same thing interestingly enough. Is the Documents feature a knowledgebase? We really need that here. Looking forward to seeing it with Evo! Val |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by gtladmin on 10/11/07 at 14:06:56 oops, opened the floodgates here with our President. He's chomping at the bit to know how long before we can get this additional feature---we've been looking at other products and found one promising one, then we hear this is further along, but we're really needing to implement something and the benefit of this one is it will be linked to Evo so we don't have to do it ourselves..... ...so, when do we expect this to be ready? He's looking for some ballpark timeframe. Can anyone give me something? Val |
Title: Re: DBA Contact Manager VS ACT! Post by timgolds on 10/15/07 at 14:33:13 sorry forthe delay. Yes and yes. Vtiger is based on an old version or Sugar CRM. Vtiger has made it very dificult and cumbersome to work with. You can use any email you want! You can also add any of the sugar addons to it! The documents part is for any available documents. You can clasify them as Sales Docs, Customer support, FAQ ... You can then make these document groups available to others through group association! Not using the Talend , jasper or jitterbit products. they slow down the machine. Using PSQL services, views and triggers to move data. |
