Title: AP-C - NO to lock wait causes GL out of balance Post by kevind on 12/19/06 at 09:12:56 While processing a Vendor invoice in AP-C, if you receive a message that another user has a record locked, and you answer NO to the 'do you wish to wait?' question, then the GL transaction for the merchandise amount that debits the GL RNI account does not get generated in the Batch file. This results in the Batch being out of balance. Everything else appears ??? to be posted OK. :'( |
Title: Re: AP-C -> NO to lock wait causes Post by lmk223a on 12/19/06 at 13:14:20 Then one edits the Batch to add the missing transaction in GL-P. I'd rather only have to add a GL transaction than modify the purchasing and inventory files (those records update properly!) ::) |
Title: Re: AP-C -NO to lock wait causes GL out of balance Post by kevind on 12/19/06 at 15:10:11 I understand ... we had already added the missing transaction. My point is a lock should not inhibit the RNI entry in the batch file. The other GL transactions did post to the batch. There is no other file involved with adding transactions to the GL Batch. |
Title: Re: AP-C - NO to lock wait causes GL out of balanc Post by cathyh on 12/19/06 at 15:31:42 At least you got a message. I was receiving a PO while someone was entering a PO invoice, and there was no alert, but the invoice transaction posted completely wrong (amounts in other accounts wrong, nothing in the RNI account). There are definite record locking issues when entering and posting PO invoices. |
Title: Re: AP-C - NO to lock wait causes GL out of balanc Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/20/07 at 17:41:21 I agree there are issues here, and more than one post on the subject. I think that perhaps AP-C and PO-C on the same PO should not be allowed at the same time and whoever gets into the PO first has dibs on that particular PO until they are finished. If you got the message that another user was in the same PO at the very beginning you at least wouldn't be in the middle of saving the entries when it realized there was a locking problem. Feedback, please!!! |

Title: Re: AP-C - NO to lock wait causes GL out of balanc Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/21/07 at 13:15:18 Yes and no. We know what part of the problem is. If we never let PO-C and AP-C into the same PO at the same time, it is an easier fix than trying to unlock the deadly embrace. |

Fine by me! Perhaps Dilbert can come back to life with a message that the file is already in use, please wait. ;D |
Title: Re: AP-C - NO to lock wait causes GL out of balanc Post by dorner on 03/08/07 at 15:00:01 I have had something happen twice but can not reproduce it on demand. When I was entering PO invoices in AP-C and I got the message that BKAPPO was locked I waited a little while and clicked Yes. Got the same message so I said NO and closed out of AP-C. When I came back to AP-C everything seemed to go fine until I got to the second page. The first item of the receipt is now missing. For instance if I recieved 3 line items on a certain PO when I can eventually get into AP-C the first line is missing. Only 2 line items show up on the second page. Mikeb |
