Title: Menu Differences Post by RPCAdmin on 02/26/07 at 10:24:46 1. - TAS-H - Whenever I try to access this menu it tells me - "You may run this program from the main menu only." ?? Doesn't matter who I am logged in as. 2. - User setups - We maintained most of our user setups in PS-A from the original setups in DBA. We created some new ones in TAS-G for people we wanted to strictly limit as to what they could access. Most other users are either A or P in PS-A. Something interesting shows up with the 2/14 update. The users who are A are having the T7INA screen show up when they go to IN-A - whereas the user who are P, have the old style and IN-Q is the windows version. When I go into TAS-G to look at the setup for the Admins (a few of us), there is no ADMIN user shown, only the POWERUSER. How can I tweak the menu settings for the ADMIN's if I can't see them? I have even tried logging in as the ADMIN user and still can't see the ADMIN user in TAS-G? Also, SD-K for the Admins is Evo User Settings - while for everyone else it is the IS Tech Toolbar. Title: Re: Menu Differences Post by NovaZyg on 02/26/07 at 11:16:30 TAS-H I confirm.. there is something wrong there, I will look in to it. The Admin user is not a real user, it a menu setup that has access to everything.. we have replaced the T6 versions of INA,INB,WOA,ARA,APA with the T7 versions of these for Admin. The same goes for SDK the new T7SDK replaces the old toolbar program. ISTech controls the content of the User ADMIN so we can always have one user with all the latest content. |

Title: Re: Menu Differences Post by LeAnn Cucchiara on 02/27/07 at 09:19:29 Lynn helped me with the same thing on an ealier post attached below: Per her directions I went into TAS-G & changed the file names. It was very simple to do once I knew that I was supposed to do it! LeAnn Cucchiara wrote:
That worked............thanks, Lynn. I guess it really does help when you know what you're doing, huh.[/quote] |

I was wondering about #1 too and been meaning to ask as it's never worked for me. None of my Admin level accounts work correctly. I have to manually set up menus in TAS-G if I want anyone to have access to the T7 menus. The only way for me to see the T7 menus is to log in as ADMIN. If I log in with my account, with is set to Admin level in PS-A (and no account in TAS-G), I get all of the old menus -- same with others. I've tried recreating the account(s) to no avail. I've posted about this in another thread and I've been recently working with Lori on this and she's been checking into it, but it's been over a month -- sooo, I'm open to any other input / suggestions. Many thanks |
Title: Re: Menu Differences Post by GasGiant on 02/28/07 at 08:23:54 TAS-H should be listed as deprecated, since it has been phased out. Lynn even removed it from the Help file. Unless it is coming back again? As for menus, since the "Admin" menu is set by the system, it does not appear in the TAS-G list. However, you can copy it into your default admin level menu. For instance, each time I upgrade Evo I go into TAS-G and delete my own menu profile, then I recreate it by copying the Admin profile. Just enter Admin in the copy from block. It will warn you that "Admin" is a dynamic menu and that your copy will not be dynamic, but it will make an exact copy of the new Admin menu. Quick and easy. As for the other roles, since I like to control the users' programs fairly carefully, I don't find updating them on an as-needed basis too tedious. If I want to replace everyone's IN-A program I can use the "Change Prg Name" button in TAS-G to update all of them at once. Although role-based menus are a nice idea for the IT department, they are seldom flexible enough for the realities of the small company where a number of users have multiple roles. On the other hand, allowing users to customize their own menus gives me a headache just to think about. Most of my forty+ users have their own menu, which I set up and maintain for them based on their needs. The dozen or so who fall into a general Production role have no menu profile, which means that the Default menu comes up for all of them. That's the extent of my use of roles. |

Well thank you for FINALLY someone answering this. Admin doesn't show up on the drop down 'Copy From' list. Manually entering 'Admin' took care of things. |

This was also some great trivia to know about. I think we've found some great fodder for the Wiki -- this is the kind of stuff that NEEDS to be there. |
