I have made entries that effect the cash account and the other income account for 2006. The transactions are in balance when I posted the transactions but then the trial balance was out-of-balance for the end of December. I believe it has something to do with the retained earnings account but can't be for sure. Where do I begin looking and how do I correct this problem? I need to know ASAP as I will be receiving my Year-end Adjustments very soon to close the year. THanks for any help! :'(

When you run the Trial Balance ending 12/31/06, are you saying Y or N to include YE entries? If you run the YE Journal for 12/31/06, is it in balance?

Could you also tell us what update you are on? Is it the Feb update?

I do answer yes to include Year-End entries. We are on version 2004.1 update 4/23/04.

The year-end journal is also out-of-balance.

OK, then you can use UT-A, program GLEREDO to recalculate the YE entries. You must not be on the latest update, or at least weren't when the prior year entries were posted. There was an old bug causing the prior year YE journal to be out of balance but that was fixed back in early 2006 I believe.
