We are using Pervasive 8.5 and, with some new techies looking at our server, have noticed what appears to be a memory leak in the Pervasive ntdbsmgr process. The amount of memory use builds and builds all day long, and usually goes back down when all are logged off of Evo, but sometimes, randomly, it does not and eventually the server locks and needs a restart. I don't know if this is a pervasive problem that would be fixed with the 8.7 update, or if it is something with my Windows 2000 server. I did not pinpoint it to this in the past but every now and then everyone is locked out of Evo and I have to restart the server, so I wonder now if this is the reason.
Has anyone experienced this or know what is going on here and how to fix it?

I would definitely recommend upgrading to PSQLv8.7 (Service Pack 3), as it is a free update and also includes other important bug fixes. Be sure to patch both the server AND the clients.

Some variability in memory usage is expected in the newer engines, due to the use of the "dynamic" L2 cache. If you do not want the system to use more memory when needed (and free it up when done), then change the setting (in the PCC) for Max Microkernel Memory Usage from the default of 60 to 0. This will disable the L2 cache.

Please note that you may adversely impact performance when you do this. If your server has lots of memory, I would also consider enabling the System Cache (if not already) at the same time.
