Title: Vendor Items gone Post by cmsk on 03/06/07 at 10:51:35 After the install the new patchs today, all of the Vendor Part/Item Numbers are gone from all areas. Is there a specific file that I need to restore to fix this? |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by JNAPIER on 03/06/07 at 12:01:31 Mine did it to for some reason to ? BKSBVEND BKSBMFG Just copy back to default folder from back-up John |

Hmmm, thanks for the reply, but that didn't work. Actually, the dates don't seem to jive either, i.e., the files from backup have the same dates as the existing files. Any other suggestions, this is posing a PO problem (among other things). |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by cmsk on 03/06/07 at 13:59:30 Okay, I went back a bit farther with the BKSBVEND file and got the Vendor Items back. Question though, there was a size difference of about 400 k in from the older file to the new (the newer one was larger). What else in stored in this file? I'll have to check with some other people to know what's been done over the past few days, but I'd like to know what's in the file that may have been affected by the restore. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by JNAPIER on 03/06/07 at 14:38:20 I saw that too. The corrupt file set on mine was 1.4 MB I tried to rebuild the file and it was reduced to 42 KB with no data. Nothing else in it, only about 10 fields........ Funny thing is I had to go back to before the update to find a good one. The file was KILLED prior to the update ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D John |

Hmm, interesting and odd. Gotta love computers. No other issues after restoring the file though? |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by JNAPIER on 03/06/07 at 14:58:45 Nope, All is 100% fine and purchasing is my friend again :-* John |

Nicely done and many thanks. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/06/07 at 18:42:37 We do not touch the BKSBVEND file in the update process so I am glad John was able to validate that whatever is happening, the update itself is not doing it. That said, I can't think of what might in fact be the culprit. |

Coincidence most likely. However, there still seems to be an issue with PO-A and item description lines showing up -- or, they are not showing up rather. Minor correction, the first item line shows up, but the second line and third line (Vendor item number), are not |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by heliosquare on 04/03/07 at 09:06:16 THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO US 5 TIMES SINCE THE 2/14 UPDATE...AND YES, I'M YELLING BECAUSE THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by GasGiant on 04/03/07 at 12:26:22 I can see the vendor item numbers in MTICMSTR.MTIC.PROD.VPC, but they no longer show up when I click on the Vendor button in IN-A. BKSBVEND is an empty file. However, when I re-add the lost vendor part numbers, they go in this file instead of into MTICMSTR. Ain't that odd. What's going on here? |

When my children throw temper tantrums, when they pout or yell, they seldom get what they expect. I hope you aren't expecting your posts to get some sort of special handling just because they are in caps. How would that be fair to civil folk? I suppose that, if you pay for Gold Support, you could call IS Tech and scream yourself blue. I'm not sure that it would help, but at least then the folks dealing with the antics would be those receiving remuneration. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by NovaZyg on 04/03/07 at 13:44:03 We are trying to find and fix that very issue right now.. I have a user who is working with us to try and track this down.. if you can tell us what exactly you are doing to cause this, and you can repeatably reproduce the bug it would be a great help... Some reports we have received said it was the update program that did it, others say it is in INB.. any clues to help us fix it are much appreciated. Thus far, we cannot make it happen here. |
Colin, I wasn't aware that having to read capital letters qualified as "dealing" with something. Perhaps you should get your tolerance levels in check. Sometimes yelling is required to be heard above the rest of the noise. It's hardly uncivil. What I try to instill in my child is not to be condescending or self-righteous. I realize that the developers and support staff are busy with many other issues all at once but some sort of assurance that these issues are being addressed needs to be posted to these threads in a timely fashion. I read Allen's post prior to this writing and I appreciate his efforts, but the post was made nearly a month after the original post. If this were an open-source project I would be more apt to hold my tongue but since it isn't I have every right as a consumer to make my frustrations known. I'm certainly not looking for special treatment, just my money's worth. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by GasGiant on 04/04/07 at 05:48:57 This is the "Free User Forum". Free: not paid. User: we all help each other. There is no call for you to yell at us. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by kevind on 04/04/07 at 06:50:41 Is this an EVO only problem?? I have not seen this happen to us. We only run classic, and I have everything updated to current. For those of you that have lost your vendor info: If you can see the vendor code and vendor Item # in Maintain Database in table MTICMSTR, then I wrote up a small SQL update that can populate a new BKSBVEND. Mind you, when the BKSBVEND vendor file was introduced, the old fields in MTICMSTR were no longer maintained, but it could give you a starting place. Please email or send a personal message through the forum if you would like a copy. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by GasGiant on 04/04/07 at 07:02:33 I restored from a backup and all is well, but the bug has been identified. It has to do with using the "Clear" button in IN-B. Until there is a patch, don't use it. I don't think that my people use that button, but I used it during the training session that I did on the new T7 programs. ;D |

Nope. This is called the ISTechSupport forum. There is paid staff supporting a commercial product. The wiki is meant for user to user support. Thanks for the feedback though. |

Thanks for the feedback though.
Well, I guess a different browser worked for this topic only ?!?!?! Nice. Point here is, it's still a public forum, but regardless, YELLING in posts rarely, if ever, get you noticed in a positive way. We've all had our rants here, but you'll gain much more respect and HELPFUL responses if you do it with a bit more finesse. If anyone should have been fuming, it's yours truly; I started the thread, and ultimately I solved it / found the fix. If I had NOT, you can be sure I'd have kept the topic at the top of the reply list until it was solved. As I already said, I should have responded with the fix I found and usually do, this time -- my bad!!! So, have you tried the suggestions here and in the other thread I started? http://www.istechforum.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1175688125 |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by heliosquare on 04/04/07 at 08:25:43 Thanks for the follow-up. I have a feeling the Clear button issue in IN-B is what was causing the demise on my end. I've nixed all of the T7 programs as they just don't seem to be ready yet...never could get T7WOA to work without a bunch of errors. Anyway, I apologize for yelling - it was a first for me on this board. However, it did seem to nudge the info. out so I feel justified. |

Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by heliosquare on 04/04/07 at 10:44:43 Good grief. I guess I won't ask if I can join the club. :'( The website also says this: "Support from IS Tech Support specialists and programmers and over 1800 other DBA Classic users is always available from the FREE user forum at www.istechforum.com" It was the paid staff I was trying to get acknowledgment from when I used my outside voice... |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by GasGiant on 04/04/07 at 11:29:54 My BKSBVEND.B file just blew up again. Everyone swears that they didn't use the Clear button in T7INB. I just knocked them all back to T6INB and will now reload the vendor file again. I'll do some more testing on my backup system. |

Right now I'm the only one using the T7's and it'll be that way until they are stable and more intuitive. |

Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by Lynn_Pantic on 04/09/07 at 10:46:38 Patch posted to www.istechsupport.com/status.asp. When you unzip the file, make sure WinZip is set to Use Folder Names. This will not restore the data but it will (at least as much as we have been able to determine) prevent it from happening again. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by deburr on 04/10/07 at 09:41:19 Heliosquare Your way off base here. This list is a free list for users to share info. The fact that Lynn or Allen monitor the list, or chime in with solutions is a bonus to us. If you have problems that are so frustrating to you, you should email them directly, rather than taking out your frustrations on the group. As far as getting your money's worth on this "free" list, I guess you are. That being said, We have suffered the same issue for years. It has come and gone more than once. It's been acknowledged by several members. There were claims that it was fixed in previous upgrades but the problem would resurface again in later upgrades. It's been a tough one to nail down. |

Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by Lynn_Pantic on 04/10/07 at 17:08:12 Please, if anybody gets the BKSBVEND file getting wiped out AFTER installing the update to IN-B posted 4/9/07, let me know. |

Will do, I just installed the update. I would be helpful if an announcement / e-mail was sent when new updates are posted. I didn't get anything such, I just happened across it today. |
Title: Re: Vendor Items gone Post by Lynn_Pantic on 04/10/07 at 19:25:31 As previously stated, since we are in Bug Fix Mode, not all patches will get an announcement so check the www.istechsupport.com/status.asp page regularly. |
