Title: MRP ORder Action Report
Post by bvesall on 03/13/07 at 13:22:08

Hello all,

I'm still feeling my way through the MRP.  I have set up reorder levels to 1 month and reorder amount to 3 months.  The problem is, when I generate MRP and create an order action report, EVO is telling me to purchase a full 3 months usage of inventory.  It does not take into account inventory on the floor or inventory available from our vendors (on open blanket purchase orders).  How can I get DBA to figure in inventory on the floor and at vendors when printing an order action report?

MRP uses the reorder amount as the minimum to buy. Try making it smaller. Also check your buffers. If the dates on your blanket orders are outside the buffers, those POs will be ignored and new orders suggested. The MR-G, Material requirements report is a good way to check behind the scenes of the Order Action report.

bv:

Are you actually running MR-F to generate?  Just running the reorder report doesn't actually calc your requirements.

I am using MR-F to generate.  I'll have to play around with the buffers so MRP won't ignore current purchase orders.

Thanks for the replies.

I have changed the reorder level to be 3 months, hoping EVO will fill in the required qty to get me to a 3 month usage.  The problem I'm having now is that it seems EVO is ignoring sales orders.  The qty recommended is exactly our minimum (3mo usage) minus qty on hand minus qty on purchase orders.  If MRP is set to include sales orders which would pull from inventory, it should include these in the calculation as well, shouldn't it?  I'll try to post a good example.

a few things to look at

Are the dates on the sales orders dates within the buffer range ?

Type B items will be ignored until you convert SO to WO

JDub.

We are not currently converting SO to WO, but we might in the future.  After further review, it'd be better to ignore the orders and be able to cover all orders plus 3 months so we're ok.  Thanks for your help.
