Title: importing Data changes to existing files
Post by cathyh on 04/30/07 at 09:13:02

Not a new subject, just a new question or two, based on the nifty directions in the evoerpwiki....

If I am changing data in a field that only exists in MTICMSTR and not in BKICMSTR or BKICLOC (lead time), do I need to Copy all three to the temporary files or can I just do the one that is affected?

I would like to change quite a few status codes.  Doing them one part at a time, sometimes I get the message cannot change to (O)bsolete as the part exists on a work order.  The work order is a 2003 order that hasn't been archived yet.  If I change the part to (O) using the data import and there are existing records that prevent it from changing, will the error check catch these?

Thanks!

If you are certain you are changing a field that only exists in one of the 3 files, then you can copy only that one back.  As for error checking, the import does not test Active Status against order status so you could make something Obsolete via the import that IN-B would not have allowed you to do.

Thanks, Lynn.  I think I'll wait to archive some work orders before I change the status of those items to obsolete.
