We've run into a small snag in EVO and were wondering if anyone can shed some light on it.

If I enter a SKU that is to be a kit, and then enter parts under the bill of materials, it allows me to add Phantom parts. However, if you add that kit to a sales order and then release it, the program gives a warning that the phantom SKU will go negative. My understanding is that a Phantom does not really exist and it should just go to the children of that BOM for reliving out of inventory. Should it not work with Phantoms under kits since it works fine it the Phantom is under a finished good type SKU?

We use the phantoms to build hoses with crimped ends and don't to start making work orders to assemble them, so for us making them phantoms is the ideal solution.

why wouldnt you use a workorder for that ?
it takes labor right ?
is it due to the variabilty of the hose length ?

Ive never used a phantom on a saleskit

can you copy the phantom bom to the sales kit rather than add the phantom number to the sales kit

What do you mean by copy?

It would be just nice to have the BOM there so anyone of our sales people can just enter it and not worry about copying everytime.

The main reason for using the Phantom so we can have an assembly that we do not require to track the minimal labour it takes to make....

I do not have any experience with using phantoms in kits, but I know you can't sell them so maybe there is some sort of conflict there. Are you adding labor in the phantom as a (L) type part number?
We have a number of assemblies that are (A) or (N) types and have a rolled up BOM that includes a labor part number. WE still have to build them to relieve the inventory of parts included in the BOM but labor is issued just like the parts.
