Title: Maintain Database Fields Display
Post by chrisbowden on 05/14/07 at 15:28:12

I was looking for the Parent Material Costs in Maintain Database in Evo.  After 45 minutes of comparing fields to the DBA File Name and Field Description spreadsheet, I felt certain that what I was looking for was in MTICMSTR.  Switched from Evo's Maintain Database to Classic's Maintain Database and found the data in field RCOST_2.

In Classic's Maintain Database, RCost is showing as 15 separate fields labeled RCOST_1 thru RCOST_15 like below:
http://www.amstarfoods.com/dba-images/Classic_MDB_MTICMSTR_RCost.bm

However, for some reason, Evo's Maintain Database is only listing 1 single column labeled RCost:
http://www.amstarfoods.com/dba-images/Evo_MDB_MTICMSTR_RCost.bm.

This results in a column which for me is all zero's:
http://www.amstarfoods.com/dba-images/Evo_MDB_MTICMSTR_RCost_2.bm

Any idea why this is and can it be fixed so that I can use Evo's Maintain Database to see all of the table's fields?

Chris

MTIC.PROD.RCOST is an array. And the powers that be...(not us the language developer)  have changed Maintain Database (back in 2004) so now you need to enable EDIT and then click on the field, a lookup button will appear in this field and then you can click and see the contents of the array.

Don't shoot me, I am just the messenger on this one..

Wow! What a great, user-friendly idea. I wish I'd thought of that  ::)

Thanks for the info, Allen!

And Colin, you're absolutely correct--what a great, user-friendly idea!  I think the people who thought of this helped design much of Next Gen.

Well, for all of you who pooh-pooh Classic, at least our MDB is better!   :P   Ha!

Thanks again for your help, guys!

Chris
